Environmental and Social Impact Assessment

In February 2008 Africo undertook an additional Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) in order to comply with the World Bank Performance Standards.

World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day 2008 came with a new vision of leadership. Africo Resources consulted with Dr Jimmy, the Zonal Medical Officer to get buy-in on the commemoration of the World AIDS Day celebrations.

Prize-giving day

School started in September with a great turnover of up to 226 students and with a step up to primary level 6 class. All students have now been registered and are eligible to sit for final national primary school examinations.

Market gardening

Africo has engaged ARDERI, a local NGO, to start a market gardening project. This includes training women and men on farming methods and how to manage their group co-operatives.

Kisankala Women’s Committee

The Kisankala Women’s committee conducted their 2nd workshop over two days in early August. This was a follow up on their earlier workshop on vision and mission.
