Makango received his Mineral Technician A3 Certificate from Mutoshi Technicon in Kolwezi in 1992. Between 1999 and 2005 he worked in the Geology Department at Gecamines as a geological technician in exploration. Makango joined our team in December 2005 as a geological assistant.
Born on 6 April 1963 at Mushoshi. Chikumba attended Sandoa Methodist Primary and Secondary School. He undertook 5 years of training to become a diesel mechanic. In 2002, Chikumba joined JCI as a diamond saw operator. In August 2004, he joined our team in the same position. To date he has cut approximately 6,800m of diamond drill core without a lost time injury - a magnificent safety achievement by any standard.
Benoit Kasongo was a soldier in Angola between 1975 and 1980 and reached the rank of Captain. He completed a four year course as a diesel mechanic. Following that he worked as a driver for a number of companies and as chief mechanic at FOFO Garage, Kolwezi between 1997 and 2004. Benoit joined our team in 2004.
Mangala (Emile) was born on 15 June 1962 in Kolwezi. He went to the Ukweli School for 4 years in Lubumbashi, where he obtained a teachers diploma. Mangala then underwent training as a cook for 5 years in Lubumbashi and worked in that role at Tenke SNCC (Railways) from 1995 to 2001. Mangala has been working as a cook for the Kalukundi Camp since December 2005.
Mbaz was trained as a male nurse at the Tshibamb Medical/Technical Institute at De Sandoa between 1976-1977. For the next fourteen years Mbaz practiced as a nurse in various places. Between 2001-2004, Mbaz was a day security guard looking after the exploration camp of JCI. Since 2004 he has been appointed as a cook for Swanmines S.P.R.L..
Numbi studied for 3 years as a mechanic in Kolwezi between 1981-1985. He also studied pharmacy between 1986-1987. Numbi also studied English between 1988-1989. He was an assistant mechanic for BECOR Company, Gecamines. He also owned a pharmacy for 10 years in Kolwezi. Since January 2005, Numbi has been working at Swanmines. He initially was recruited to help with translating French/Swahili into English. He is now appointed as a storeman, but still assists with interpretation on a daily basis in the exploration camp.
