Chris received his civil law degree (BCL) in 1981 and his common law degree (LLB) in 1982, both from McGill University. For the past 20 years he has practiced principally in the fields of corporate, securities, mining and commercial law involving publicly traded companies. Chris has held a number of directorships in public companies involved in the mining and technology sectors and has also been involved in the resolution and settlement of commercial disputes.
Tinus is corporate and litigation lawyer by training, having obtained his BLC LLB qualifications at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He was a partner in a leading law firm in South Africa for 10 years before retiring from legal practice in June 1998 to found the River Group, a boutique investment banking firm with offices in South Africa and Canada. Tinus has advised on numerous M&A transactions in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia over the last decade. He has served on the boards of public companies in Canada and South Africa, and acted as an independent advisor to a number of working committees established by the ANC government during the transition to democracy in South Africa. He relocated to Vancouver in January 2001 to establish the Canadian office of the River Group.
Jim has BSc. and PhD degrees in Metallurgy from Strathclyde University in Glasgow and was President and CEO of Rio Tinto Iron and Titanium (RTIT) from 2001 to 2007. Prior to his tenure as President he held various technical, operations and sales and marketing positions including General Manager of Richards Bay Iron and Titanium.
Peter is a board member of Banque Internationale de Crédit (BIC) in the DRC and serves on the board of other mining companies based in the DRC. A former board member of DCP Sprl (the subsidiary of Nikanor plc), Peter also was a Commercial Manager for an ING Insurance and Savings Bank in Belgium He holds a Masters degree in International Politics and one in Linguistics from the University of Antwerp.
Matthew has practised law in England and Israel since 1998 and has advised on joint ventures as well as public and private merger and acquisition transactions in the African mining sector since 2004. He holds a BA in Law and a Master of Arts from University of Cambridge, England. Matthew qualified to the Supreme Court of England and Wales in September 2000. He was called to the Israeli Bar in November 2005.
Douglas is a business author and an accredited mediator. He has held various managerial positions in business and commerce including National Representative to the European Union Regional Transitional Cooperation. Douglas holds a BA from Middlesex University (UK) in Law with Management, a Post Graduate Certificate in Executive Management from Durham University (UK), and an Executive Diploma in Management from the Chartered Institute of Management.
Larry is a Chartered Accountant in British Columbia and Alberta as well as a Certified Public Accountant in Washington State. Larry has been in public practice with Deloitte & Touche, his own firm, and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP over the past 35 years. He sits on various committees with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia. Larry is currently the Chief Financial Officer for BC Gold Corp., and has been involved with numerous public mining companies over the past 32 years.
